Why the Bottega Veneta classic Jodie Is My Favorite Everyday Bag for Fall

If there’s one handbag I’ve reached for more than any other this year, it’s my Bottega Veneta Jodie. I have the classic size (previously called the small), and I seriously cannot get enough of this bag!

I’ve always loved Bottega Veneta handbags, but the Jodie has become one of my absolute favorites. It’s beautiful, practical, and surprisingly versatile. After carrying it all over New York City for the past several months, I can confidently say it’s one of the most useful bags in my collection.

And now that fall is here, I’m finding even more reasons to love it.

From the buttery soft leather to the roomy interior and comfortable shoulder strap, here’s why I think the Bottega Veneta Jodie is such a great everyday bag, especially during the cooler months.

The Perfect Shoulder Bag for Fall Coats and Jackets

One of my favorite things about the Bottega Veneta Jodie is how comfortably it sits on my shoulder.

If you love wearing oversized jackets and coats during the fall, you probably know how frustrating it can be when a handbag doesn’t fit comfortably over your outerwear.

Thankfully, that’s rarely an issue with my Jodie.

The strap on the classic size is roomy enough to fit over most of my jackets and coats, which makes it incredibly convenient when I’m getting dressed for cooler weather.

I also appreciate that the strap rarely slides off my shoulder. Of course, this depends on the material of the jacket I’m wearing, but I’ve found that it stays in place much better than many of my other shoulder bags.

When you’re walking around New York City all day, the last thing you want is to constantly adjust your handbag!

I love that I can throw it over my shoulder, head out the door, and not have to think too much about it.

It’s Surprisingly Spacious for an Everyday Bag

Another reason I’ve been carrying my Jodie so frequently is how much it holds.

Living in New York City means I spend a lot of time out of the apartment. Whether I’m exploring a new neighborhood, attending events, shopping, or meeting friends, I often leave home knowing I won’t be back for several hours.

Because of that, I’ve become much more particular about the handbags I carry.

I need something that can comfortably hold my everyday essentials, along with a few extras that make long days in the city easier.

My Jodie has plenty of room for everything I typically need, including my phone, wallet, keys, sunglasses, and other small necessities.

But what I really appreciate is that I can always bring my portable power bank and an umbrella.

Those two things have become absolute essentials for me since moving to New York.

Between using my phone for directions, taking photos, filming content, and staying connected throughout the day, having a portable charger is a must.

And if you’ve ever been caught in an unexpected New York rainstorm, you already know why I like to keep an umbrella with me!

I love that I don’t have to choose between carrying a beautiful handbag and bringing everything I might need for the day.

The Buttery Soft Leather Makes It Even Better

Of course, we have to talk about the leather.

One of the things I love most about Bottega Veneta is the beautiful quality and texture of their leather handbags.

The Jodie is made with the brand’s signature Intrecciato woven leather, which gives it such an interesting look without relying on prominent logos or hardware.

The leather on mine is incredibly soft and buttery, and I love the relaxed shape of the bag.

It doesn’t feel overly structured or stiff, which is part of what makes it so easy to carry.

I personally love handbags that have a slightly slouchy, effortless look, especially when paired with more structured clothing.

There’s something about the contrast between a relaxed leather bag and a beautiful tailored coat that I find so chic.

The woven leather also adds a gorgeous amount of texture to an outfit, which is one of the reasons I think it works particularly well for fall.

A Bag That Works With Almost Everything

If you’ve followed my fashion content for a while, you probably know that I wear a lot of black.

I love experimenting with different silhouettes and textures, but my wardrobe is primarily made up of neutral colors.

One of the reasons I reach for my Jodie so frequently is that it works with just about everything I own.

I can wear it with jeans and a leather jacket for a casual day out, or pair it with a long wool coat and boots when I want to look a little more put together.

It also looks beautiful with oversized blazers, sweaters, and trench coats.

I think that’s what makes a handbag truly useful. It’s not just about how beautiful it looks sitting on a shelf, but how easily you can incorporate it into your everyday wardrobe.

And clearly, I’ve had no trouble finding opportunities to wear this one!

Is the Bottega Veneta Jodie Classic Size Worth It?

For me, absolutely.

I own several designer handbags, but the Jodie has easily become my most worn bag of the year.

I think that says a lot, especially considering how many other options I have in my closet.

What makes it worth it to me isn’t just the design or the quality of the leather. It’s how well the bag fits into my actual lifestyle.

I walk a lot, spend long days exploring New York City, and need a handbag that’s comfortable, spacious, and versatile enough to work with different outfits.

The classic size checks all of those boxes.

Of course, whether it’s worth the investment depends on your personal style and what you need from an everyday bag.

If you prefer very structured handbags or something with multiple compartments, the Jodie might not be your ideal choice.

But if you love relaxed leather bags and want something that can transition easily from casual daytime outfits to more elevated looks, I think it’s definitely worth considering.

Where to Buy the Bottega Veneta Jodie for Less

One thing I always recommend when shopping for designer handbags is checking the pre-loved market before purchasing something brand new.

I’ve found some incredible deals on luxury handbags over the years, and Bottega Veneta is one of my favorite brands to shop secondhand.

I’ve been seeing some really good prices on Jodie bags lately, so I wanted to share a few worth browsing if you’ve been considering adding one to your collection.

Fashionphile

Fashionphile is my favorite place to browse pre-owned designer handbags. It’s worth checking their selection if you’re looking for a particular color or hoping to find a good deal.

When shopping secondhand, make sure to check the bag’s condition, measurements, and return policy before purchasing.

Also, keep in mind that the size now called the Classic Jodie on the bottega site was previously known as the Small Jodie, so you may see both names used when browsing resale websites.

My Final Thoughts on the Bottega Veneta Jodie

I love a beautiful handbag, but I especially love one that I actually use.

The Bottega Veneta Jodie has become such a staple in my wardrobe because it manages to be both practical and stylish.

It’s spacious enough for long days in the city, comfortable to carry over my fall jackets, and made from the most beautiful, soft woven leather.

I also love that it has such a relaxed silhouette. It adds texture and interest to an outfit without feeling like I’m trying too hard.

If you’re considering a Jodie, particularly in the classic size, I hope this gives you a better idea of what it’s like to use one regularly.

And if you already own one, I’d love to know how you’re liking yours!
